John Parsons grew up hunting the rolling farmlands of south-central Kansas. After a fall from a treestand resulting
in three crushed vertebrae in his lower back, ending his career as a firefighter, John turned his taxidermy hobby
into a business. Nearly three decades later Parsons Taxidermy is one of the largest and most successful taxidermy
studios in the midwest. Driven by his love for wildlife and the outdoors John has had the good fortune to experience
many hunting adventures from the Alaskan peninsula to the Zambezi Valley of Zimbabwe. John’s expertise in taxidermy
combined with his experiences afield led him to pursue the art of wildlife sculpture. In 2003, and again in 2005,
John was selected by the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep as their “Artist of the Year”. John’s has installed
monumental wildlife sculptures at Cabela’s in La Vista, NE and Hazelwood, MO, as well as, Gander Mt. and WaterWalk
in Wichita, KS. In 2006 Cabela’s commisioned John to create a line of functonal art products to be sold through
their catalog, internet and retail locations.
